1. Sponsor

The Discover Reardan Merit Scholarship (the “Scholarship”) is sponsored and administered by Steinwood Investments, LLC, a Washington limited liability company doing business as Discover Reardan (“Sponsor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), 100 N Howard St, Ste 5502, Spokane, WA 99201-0508.

2. Eligibility

The Scholarship is open to students who, as of the application deadline: (a) are graduating high-school seniors or students currently enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited college, university, or vocational program; and (b) reside within, or have graduated from a high school in, the Reardan-Edwall School District area of Lincoln County, Washington. Applicants under the age of 18 must have the permission and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Rules on the applicant’s behalf.

Employees, officers, members, and contractors of Sponsor, and their immediate family members and household members, are not eligible. The Scholarship is void where prohibited by law, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws apply.

3. How to apply

To apply, submit the official application through the Discover Reardan website, including all requested information and a short original essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt provided with the application. You may be asked to confirm your enrollment, graduation, or residency. Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered. Limit one application per person. Applications that are incomplete, late, fraudulent, or that violate these Rules may be disqualified.

4. Deadline

Applications must be received no later than April 30, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Sponsor’s clock is the official timekeeper. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, or technically failed submissions.

5. Award

Sponsor will award one (1) scholarship of $500 (U.S. dollars). At Sponsor’s discretion, the award may be paid directly to the recipient’s school, college, university, or program on the recipient’s behalf, or to the recipient, and may be conditioned on proof of enrollment. The award is non-transferable, and no substitution or cash alternative is offered except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. The number and amount of awards may change only if announced before the deadline.

6. Selection and notification

Eligible applications will be reviewed and scored by Sponsor (or reviewers it designates) based on merit criteria that may include academic achievement, community involvement, character, and the quality, originality, and thoughtfulness of the essay. Selection decisions are made in Sponsor’s sole and reasonable discretion and are final. The selected recipient will be notified using the contact information provided in the application, on or about a date announced with the application. If a recipient cannot be reached, does not respond within a reasonable time, declines, or is found ineligible, Sponsor may select an alternate or decline to award.

7. Taxes

The recipient (or the recipient’s parent or guardian, if a minor) is solely responsible for any taxes that may apply to the award and for consulting a tax advisor. Sponsor may require completion of tax or verification forms before paying an award.

8. Use of information and publicity

Information you submit is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By accepting the award, and except where prohibited by law, the recipient grants Sponsor permission to use the recipient’s name, city of residence, school, and general likeness to announce and promote the Scholarship, without additional compensation. A recipient who is a minor may be identified in a limited way with parental or guardian consent. Essays and application materials will not be published without permission except as needed to administer the Scholarship.

9. Conditions and conduct

By applying, you represent that all information you provide is true and accurate and that your essay is your own original work. Sponsor may verify eligibility and disqualify anyone who provides false information, tampers with the process, or acts in a manner that is unfair or disruptive.

10. Limitation of liability

By applying, you agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its members, owners, operators, and affiliates from any claims, liability, or damages arising out of participation in the Scholarship or acceptance or use of the award, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor is not responsible for technical failures, or for any error in the administration of the Scholarship, except as required by law.

11. Changes and cancellation

Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Scholarship, or to extend or change the deadline, if fraud, technical failure, or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control affects the fair administration of the program, or as otherwise permitted by law. Any changes will be posted on this page.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Except where prohibited, any dispute relating to the Scholarship will be resolved as provided in the dispute-resolution section of our Terms of Use, and venue lies in Spokane County, Washington.
